Dry needling is a treatment that involves a very small, thin needle being quickly tapped through the skin. Dry needling stimulates underlying myofascial trigger points (muscular and connective tissues) in order to relieve pain and improve movement. Dry needling works by disrupting the contracted myofascial tissue and increasing blood flow to the treated area. Dry needling is a safe and effective treatment option for patients who are not afraid of needles.

Dry Needling How is Dry Needling different from Acupuncture?

Acupuncture focuses on unblocking the flow of energy meridians to create balance within the body. Acupuncture points are chosen based upon their path along the meridians throughout the body. Dry needling focuses on stimulating a specific trigger point that is leading to pain and disability. The only similarity is the use of a thin filiform needle.
